General Information about the workshop
Workshop will bring together prominent scientists, postdoctoral fellows and students, and will enable the scientists in the areas of electromagnetics, photonics, soft materials, energy materials and nanotechnology to discuss recent advances in the field of metamaterials. Many participants of ICAM meeting in the thrust areas of soft matter , quantum matter and energy materials will be able to participate it. In the workshop we will discuss the fundamental physical effects and technologies of metamaterials in the interdisciplinary researsch, as well as the great applications metamaterials in many subjects, such as microwave electromagnetics, integration and information optics, biophotonics, nonlinear optics, quantum optics. In the previous and current stages, the most important applications of metamaterials are for “forbidden in nature” negative-index medium, artificial magnetism, super-resolution lens, and transformation optics and perfect cloaking. In the workshop we will address the open and emerging questions in which there may be some revisions in the range of discussed topics as new developments in this rapidly growing field will occur within the next several months. Metamaterials will develop towards more domains, such as tunable, switchable, and reconfigurable metamaterials, nonlinear metamaterials, quantum metamaterials, acoustic metamaterials. There will be several sessions. Each session will have a prominent scientist to lead the discussion following the Frauenfelder rules. There will be approximately 100 participants to attend about 20 oral presentations. Many participants will present a poster on their current research project. We expect very diverse speakers/participants from Asia, US, Europe, and encourage their interaction and collaboration. Especially, the workshop will attract participants from other top Chinese universities/institutions and that the goal is to have them participate in both ICAM annual meeting and the workshop, interact to form/initiate new collaborations, new ICAM branches in China, new exchange visits, new workshop/conference organization.
